When to use this converter

Convert currencies using a rate you enter, with an option to fetch a dated indicative reference rate. The default rate is illustrative, not a current quote. Fetch the latest published reference rate or enter your own rate. Rates may lag, especially on weekends. Bank spreads, transfer fees and execution rates differ. A provider failure never replaces your rate silently.

Read the rate direction before entering a value

If the source is USD and destination is EUR, the rate field means EUR for one USD. Reversing the currencies requires the reciprocal rate, not the same number. The initial 0.9 is an example; it is not a live quote. Fetching is optional and shows the reference date when successful.

Quote-per-base means units of the destination currency for one unit of the source currency. Reference rates are indicative and can differ from a bank or money-transfer quote. Add spreads and fees separately.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a money-transfer quote give me less?

Providers may use a spread and charge fixed or percentage fees. A reference-rate conversion excludes those costs and does not guarantee the amount a recipient will receive.

Is a reference rate a guaranteed transaction rate?

No. Banks and payment providers set execution rates and charges. A reference rate is useful for comparison rather than a guaranteed quote.
